Knightmare Remake
Knightmare Remake Game Review Earlier this month, MCV got word that one of our favorite late '80s CITV fantasy challenge shows Knightmare was being revived for a one-off episode. It's now available to watch on YouTube as part of Geek Week, and if you're a fan of the show or want to give it a go for yourself, it's worth checking out. Knightmare Remake is an addictive, old-school video game that combines the classic Konami gameplay of 1986 with beautiful graphics and a delightful storyline. Players take on the role of a knight, Popolon, as he sets out to save Afrodite from the clutches of the evil Knightmare, who's on a rampage of murder and destruction. The game's controls are simple and intuitive, allowing you to move around the screen in all directions with ease. You can also pick up weapons, including magic bows and fire balls, as well as enhancers like time freeze that let you withstand attacks from enemies for a prolonged period of time. This is an awesome little title, and it's worth giving a look to if you're looking for something to fill the gap between your other favorite video games. The gameplay is great, the graphics are a pleasure to look at, and the music is very recognizable, making it easy to get sucked in. Remakes in the horror genre can be a tough sell, but Wes Craven's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise was a huge hit in 1984 and helped spark a new slasher franchise that includes eight films. But Robert Englund, who played Freddy Krueger in all of the first nine entries, recently spoke out against a future "Nightmare" remake, saying that it would be best to stick with what made the original movie so effective and use it to make a film that works with current sociocultural contexts instead of simply rehashing the past.
